What to expect during your appointment

Initial appointments are up to 2 hours long. The first 5 – 30 minutes of this is a physician chart review so you may not be called in right away. Rest assured that we have not forgotten about you.

Follow-ups are 15 – 30 minutes. The first 5 – 20 minutes of this is a physician chart review so again, you may not be called in right away.

Coast Specialists’ Clinic is a part of the UBC Medicine training program and you may be seen initially by a senior medical student or resident doctor before being joined by Dr. Lea.

Please note that appointments are by referral from your family doctor or another healthcare provider only.

If we deem that it is necessary for you to do a follow-up visit with a hospital or another clinic in Vancouver, you may qualify for the BC Ferries Travel Assistance Program (TAP).

Don’t wait until the night before your date of travel to contact TAP! When you call TAP, you will be asked for your Personal Health Number (on your BC Services Card) and the information provided by your physician or nurse practitioner on the TAP form.

Once your TAP request is accepted, enter the TAP confirmation number in the space provided on your form.
